The Kids Dept was born from a simple experience many parents know all too well.
While shopping for nursery products, we noticed customer service was often hit-and-miss. Stores seemed to fall into two camps: places where you couldn’t get help at all, or places where you were pressured into buying things you didn’t need. As first-time parents, we found that overwhelming - and we knew there had to be a better way.
So we created one.
The Kids Dept. is a New Zealand baby and nursery store, offering strollers, cots, nursery furniture, toys and baby essentials for modern families. From day one, our goal has been to provide outstanding customer service without the hard sell. We believe in honest advice, thoughtful recommendations, and helping you choose what’s right for your family - not just what’s most expensive.
We’re proud of our carefully selected range of quality baby cots, dressers that double as change tables, and premium baby strollers. Alongside these essentials, we also offer beautiful baby clothing designed to last through multiple children (ours certainly has!), as well as educational toys that encourage learning and imaginative play.
You’ll find our physical store in East Tāmaki, Auckland, where all of our baby cots, dressers, and strollers are fully set up for you to view and try in person. While we don’t have our entire online range on the shop floor due to space, anything marked in stock is held in our on-site warehouse - just out the back and easily accessible for us.
When you visit or get in touch, you’ll always be speaking directly with one of the owners. We’re a family-run business, and you’ll meet either Dave, Diane, or Laura - people who genuinely understand what it’s like to start and grow a family.
