Cotbed Safety

Cot and Cotbed Safety

All of the Cot's that The Kids Dept sell are independently tested to comply with the AS/NZS 2172 safety standards. In addition to meeting these safety standards, Mamas & Papas also carry out their own testing (in an accredited Test Lab) on their furniture to ensure it is safe and will stand the test of time - you can find out more on what they complete in their testing below.

One thing you will notice is that none of our cots have a drop side - this is due to the fact we sell cot beds from Mamas & Papas only. In the USA & Canada, cots with drop sides are actually illegal due to the safety risk they pose, as Mamas & papas sells internationally they make their furniture so that it complies with all markets safety standards.

All of our cot beds go through three tests in our accredited Test Lab to ensure they’re perfect for baby:

1) The Jumping On The Bed Test: A 10kg weight is dropped onto the cot mattress 100 times in 5 different places.
2) The Built To Last Test: The force of 100 Newton’s is applied to the corners of the cot in opposing directions to test its strength.
3) The Breakout Test: The cot slats are hit with a weight of 2kg swung from 90 degrees, 10 times from inside and outside.
They’re practically ready for anything life throws at them!

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and quality, we wish to reaffirm the importance of following the instructions and ensuring you have all fixings when assembling the cot. If you have lost your Instruction Manual please email us info@thekidsdept.co.nz and we can email a set through to you.

We know how hard it is to choose Baby products for your precious bundle, if you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to get into contact with us, we're more than happy to help.
